I'm Alison from Steyning first responder scheme in West Sussex. We set up nearly 3 years ago now, with about 6. We have 14 but not all are active. Most of the villages in Sussex are now set up. In SECAmb (Kent, Surrey & Sussex) there are now 1,000 first responders. Martin, you may be useful to know as an Associate Trainer!

Hi All I'm Steve and just starting my training with South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) to become a CFR in Winslow (Buckinghamshire).
Have been doing support work along side SCAS with St Johns for over eight years and done many an assesment with their trainers.
No longrer with St John but needed something to keep up my skills and was asked if I'd consider CFR as an option.
This is a graet scheme and was happy to get involved in.
Keep up the good work s this can only grow.
Steve

Hello Everyone.. I'm Barry (44 years old) - I have just qualified to be a CFR and joined our local group in West Lancashire (Parbold near Chorley to be precise). I cannot express how much I think the CFR system is a brilliant idea. If I only ever save one life I shall be a happy man. I'm an IT professional by trade, a bot fed up with it now and would dearly like to become a Paramedic - however I think I'm too old start now ( I look forward to chatting with you all... you're doing a brilliant job!

Welcome to all the new members.
If you've joined in the last couple of weeks, there won't have been much going on the boards. Due to unforseen circumstances (I know it sounds cliche), we have not been very active on the online side of things but we're back now so expect a lot more activity.
We hope you engage in some fantastic discussions!

Hello
I am Paul, a CFR in the Horsham and Southwater scheme supported by Secamb.
I've been responding for little over a year now passing my second 6 monthly requal on Saturday gone. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say about their schemes and how they work.

Hi All,
I'm Steve and work in local government where I've been a CFR for 2 years. I was a first aider working in University lab's for 10 years before that. At my council I'm one of a team of four CFR's providing daytime cover to the town so we don't get as many calls as some. Still an interesting and varied 'job' though.

Hi all, my name is shaun parkinson and i am a cfr for the Rossendale group. I became a responder just under 3 years ago and really enjoy making a difference in my local community. I have always been involved in caring/supporting folk. I feel being a cfr is so rewarding and i know that we are all very much valued by our local community and ambulance trust!!. Being a responder has driven me to apply to work for the service full time.

Can't believe I have't posted in this topic! Doh! I'm Dave Founder and Co-ordinator of the Ibstock & Heather First Responder Scheme, running here in the East Mids for the past three years, and covering the Coalville area and surrounding villages.
I'm a SR Paramedic looking after another 9 Responders including another 2 SR Para's, one EMT, An ACA and 5 Responders (including my wife, the treasurer). We also have a Civilian support worker, and ideas person!
Some of the Responders from the forum will have met me on the other side of the fence at jobs.... hi to you all!

Been a CFR in Westward Ho! for nearly a year and recently started responding in Barnstaple(where I work). Just in case you wondered, that's in North Devon. Good to find a CFR site and I'm amazed at how different schemes around the country operate so differently.
